Associations and sport clubs
There are lots of sports associations in Brussels. Any sport can be practised here, from gay rugby to frisbeeing, kite surfing, water hockey and rope skipping. An incredible number of clubs are also active In Brussels, from knitting groups to a club for moustache wearers, amateur theatre actors and wine lovers.
We would like to provide you with a single list with all sports clubs, but this is impossible. Sport is a competence for the Communities, which, in practical terms, means that clubs are associated with the French and Flemish Communities.
The best way to find a sports club or suitable sport infrastructure (e.g., a swimming pool), read here.
Dutch-speaking associations can be found on the following search engine. There is no Francophone equivalent for this search engine, there are just too many clubs to list them all.
A number of sports clubs and associations are specifically aimed at expats. An (incomplete) overview can be found on the xpats and La Tribune de Bruxelles websites.
We would also like to mention the numerous neighbourhoods committees active in Brussels. In search of the neighbourhood committee in your area? An overview can be found here.
